+ Optical Coating

Whenever light passes from one medium into a medium of different optical properties, most notably refractive index, part of light is reflected and part of light is transmitted. The intensity ratio of the reflected and transmitted components is a function mainly of the difference in refractive index between the two materials and the angle of incidence. In order to modify the reflection/transmission properties at the surface of optical components, optics are coated with thin layer of material different from the substrate.

A large portion of the work carried out at FZGFE coating facilities is special coatings designed and manufactured to custom specifications.
